Current Operations
- Rumpke acquired the Pike Sanitation Landfill in August 2013.
- 75 of the total 130 acres of the site are currently constructed.
- The site is permitted to receive 4,000 tons per day and currently receives about 1,700-1,800 tons per day.
- Based on current volumes, the landfill has about 33 years of remaining capacity.
- Haul roads are watered and swept daily as necessary.
Site Features
- The site utilizes the Waverly Wastewater Treatment Plant and Piketon Sewer Plant to treat water from the leachate collection system.
- The average leachate production is 250,000 gal. per month.
- The site has 75 methane gas extraction wells.
- An on-site landfill gas-to-energy plant is currently under construction.
- Two ponds were constructed to prevent stormwater runoff from leaving the site. They are inspected weekly and sampled twice monthly.
- There are currently 44 piezometers and monitoring wells on site to measure groundwater pressure. 17 of the wells are sampled frequently.
