Green Profiles in Excellence
Rumpke partners with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets to provide recycling for hockey fans at Nationwide Arena. Each month, Rumpke also recognizes an area business as the “Recycler of the Month” during a Jackets game. It’s easy to talk about going green, but these four companies are “living green” with tangible evidence of making an environmental difference.
Easton Town Center – Columbus, Ohio As a premier retail shopping destination in Columbus, Easton Town Center was named Recycler of the Month for January 2011. Over 25,000 people work at the 1.7 million square foot urban town center, and more than 20 million people visit annually. The shopping center recycles 25 to 30 tons of cardboard per month, along with five tons of single stream recycling per month.
logo640x480_ROUND2ROUND2 – Grove City, Ohio With its regional operation in Grove City, ROUND2 provides computer recycling services including disassembly and destruction of computers and electronic equipment. Rumpke partners with ROUND2 to recycle baled ABS plastic, OCC, film as well as office paper. Since May 2010, ROUND2 has recycled more than 200 tons with Rumpke. These results have paved the way for them to be named Recycler of the Month for December 2010.
AY Manufacturing – Columbus, Ohio In November 2010, AY Manufacturing, a supplier of sunroofs for the automotive industry, was named Recycler of the Month for its excellent recycling program for cardboard, wood and scrap metal. With help from Rumpke, they recycle about 30 tons per month, compared to only 12 tons of waste per month. They have also saved thousands of dollars through a competitive payback program based on market value and volume.
Coalescence, LLC – Columbus, Ohio Coalescence is not only committed to creating healthy and nutritional blends for food systems, seasoning blends and batters, they are also committed to improving their environmental performance through sustainable business practices. Named Recycler of the Month for October 2010, Coalescence recycles full trailer loads of cardboard with Rumpke. At the end of the October, they had recycled more than 60 tons of cardboard.
