National Waste & Recycling Association Inducts Bill Rumpke Jr. into Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Rumpke President & CEO Bill Rumpke Jr. for his introduction into the National Waste & Recycling (NWRA) Hall of Fame.
Bill started his career at Rumpke as a laborer and driver before moving into management. He then served for 12 years as Chief Operating Officer before earning the promotion to President and Chief Executive Officer in 2014. With Bill at the helm, Rumpke has surpassed 90 years as a family-owned firm as well as the successful transition to third and fourth generation private ownership and management.
Bill's strategic initiatives have driven significant growth. Bill and team have completed 70+ acquisitions, developed landfill gas recovery systems providing energy for 70,000 homes and assured the financial stability to invest in recycling, landfills, equipment and technology. With perseverance and poise, Bill provides the direction and support necessary to help us overcome obstacles and fulfill our responsibilities to one another, our team, our communities and our customers. Bill’s commitment to excellence and innovation has spurred record-setting revenues eclipsing a billion dollars annually.
The NWRA’s Board of Trustees selected Bill, along with only two other nominees, based on scores for recognition in the industry as a founder, pioneer, visionary or icon, enduring legacy and the impact of contributions to the industry for a minimum of 25 years. Inductees were also graded on integrity, respect, courage, mentorship, volunteerism and inclusiveness, as well as providing inspirational leadership regarding national, state and local industry issues.
“Induction into the NWRA Hall of Fame is the highest honor we can bestow on a member,” said Don Ross, NWRA Chairman. “The women and men in the hall of fame have devoted their careers, and in many cases, their lives to our trade association and to the solid waste industry. These are exceptional people that are part of the fabric of an industry that provides one of the most essential services to our communities, our businesses, and to our environment. I am honored to announce the NWRA Hall of Fame class of 2024.”
The NWRA will recognize the 2024 Hall of Fame inductees at Waste Expo 2024 on May 7 in Las Vegas. Following the ceremony, Bill will join Rumpke founder William F. Rumpke and his brother Bernard Rumpke, the late Tom Rumpke and President Emeritus Bill Rumpke Sr. in the NWRA Hall of Fame, further underscoring Rumpke’s exceptional and impactful role in the industry.
Congratulations, Bill!
